Sharing the love of making handmade pottery

Join the fun in 2026 at my new studio at Primrose Sands Tasmania. Lisa

“This place rocks. If you have never done pottery before, get your crew together. Great company, awesome location. Spend a couple of hours in the therapy of manipulating clay with friends and learn some tips along the way. Then fingers crossed your brilliant creations survive the kiln 🤣😍👌 A great casual day away from the kids.” Leigh T.

Come by yourself, bring a friend to a scheduled workshop or organise a private workshop for your group.

For scheduled workshops minimum age is 13. No minimum age for private groups - please discuss with Lisa.

"The workshop was great as it was intimate and fun and you get really hands on. I have never done anything like this before and as an absolute beginner it was great. Lisa put on some tasty homemade nibbles and was very generous with her time too. I also got the chance to buy some of her pieces and Bluey the cat 🐱 is awesome too. I’d do this again with a small group anytime. I highly recommend it as it was great fun and Lisa is a wonderful host." Teresa R 2022

2026 workshop schedule at Primrose Sands coming soon

‘What a great way to spend the morning in a beautiful setting. Lisa had thought of everything, making our own wares was a bonus. Relaxed, fun and creative’. Feb2020.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you haven’t tried pottery since primary school and your mum still has the ashtray you made.
All good! My workshops are for you. Maybe you want to have a go at pottery but everyone says, ‘Really? You?’. Don’t let others define your story. Jump on board and I will show you how you can do it.

You will find me at my new studio at 13 Falcon Street Primrose Sands

Have a look at all the different workshops you can choose from. Come by yourself, bring a friend or bring everyone. Check out the scheduled workshops and if there is no date that suits you email me and we will organise it.

About me

You will find my wares in shops such as Miss Bond at Salamanca in Hobart, Miss Arthur at New Norfolk, and Mr Wolf at Devonport. I have also made ceramics for the two publications - Warndu Mai cook book and First Nations Food Companion by Rebecca Sullivan and Damien Coulthard. If you stay at the gorgeous Lettes Bay shacks, Bushy Summers and Rosey Summers you will using my wares. I would love it if you would follow me on Instagram to get peeks behind the scenes and at the fun we have at workshops.

I am an informally and self taught potter and painter via workshops, short courses, online tutorials and then making all the mistakes while hopefully learning from them. I have a degree in adult education and worked in Queensland as a TAFE teacher & tutor and also in learning and development roles in a number of private enterprises and semi government businesses where I designed and delivered information sessions and courses in person and online.

It is important to me that my pottery workshops are welcoming and inclusive. It is exciting to try something new and I like to provide a safe and friendly place for you to do that. Join one of the already planned dates by yourself or with a friend or email me to set up a private workshop for your group of up to 14 people. Read about all the different workshops I offer and then follow the links to book your place!

At the beginning of 2026 I moved from the Derwent Valley to Primrose Sands. I hope you will join me in my new studio near the sea!

See you soon. Cheers Lisa.

Parsley dip

I get many requests for the recipe for the dip I often serve at my workshops so here it is -

2 bunches of parsley from Coles or Woolies (flat if available but any will do). Equivalent amount if you grow it yourself.

About 350 grams roasted and salted cashews (so half a big bag from Woolies/Coles)

About 2 or 3 large cloves garlic

A big pinch of salt

About 1/3 cup olive oil

2 BIG splashes of vinegar

A couple of glugs of mint sauce

Wizz if all up in a food processor. Add some water to loosen if needed.

You could add a bunch of coriander or basil to this mix for a change of flavour.

Once you have made it, you can adjust your garlic, vinegar and mint sauce to suit your taste the next time.

You could add parmesan but I dont so those who are dairy free and vegan can partake.

I acknowledge Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional and ongoing custodians of lutruwita (Tasmania). I honour their deep cultural connection and care of these lands, skies and waterways, and pay my respects to Elders past and present.
